Borderlands spin-off Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands was “wildly successful,” leading to comments that more could be coming our way. We were first introduced to Tiny Tina’s solo romp back in 2022 and it was loved by fans while critics sat mixed on the matter. Nonetheless, it isn’t quite the critics that make a game truly successful — if fans like it, they will buy it and that will line the pockets of the studio’s bottom line.
Speaking to GamesRadar during San Diego Comic-Con, CEO Randy Pitchford asserted that it isn’t that far-fetched to expect more from the spin-off thanks to its immense success, shattering internal expectations. He even went as far as suggesting it had “a new franchise” on their hands. Impressively, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands did better than the first Borderlands entry, though, some could note an unfairness to compare the two as the spin-off nature of the game and the years the IP had to grow before this spin-off actually launched.
“We had a bigger result with the first Wonderlands game than we did with the first Borderlands game, so that’s something we can build on [gives] us that kind of place to mess around. I think it’s reasonable for our fans to expect more there.”
Now while this is almost surefire a nudge at a Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2, we’d be hard-pressed to say that this could just be Pitchford simply praising a spin-off that may have nothing more than just a fantasy-fueled spin-off game attached.
