Once again, a major game developer has granted early access to a mostly complete copy for a terminally ill fan. This time it’s Gearbox and their upcoming release, Borderlands 3. On April 6, 2019, a Reddit user by the name of taurustrav whose real name is Trevor Eastman, uploaded a post to the Borderlands subreddit. The post talks about who he is, how old he is, and his current situation, stage four esophageal, stomach, and liver cancer that was diagnosed in June 2018. Trevor was given only a year to live and was unsure if he would be able to play and enjoy Borderlands 3. Trevor also posted pictures of his discharge papers, pictures of the tumors, medical findings reports, and more.
When fans saw this, they came to Trevor’s side right away, tweeting at Randy Pitchford (CEO of Gearbox), Gearbox, and 2K. People wanted Trevor to enjoy Borderlands 3 with the little time he has left. After more than a month after this post went up, Trevor followed up with another post. The post is as followed:
Trevor, on behalf on PixelBay, I admire your strength and courage you have shown. I hope you enjoy Borderlands 3. Also on behalf of PixelBay, thanks to the amazing members of the Borderlands community for getting Trevor an early copy of Borderlands 3!
