Smosh Releases Update Video Following Closure of Parent Company, Defy Media

Defy Media has shut down but, some of the channels aren’t going down with the ship. Defy has been known as the owners of Clevver, Warp Zone, Break, and most notably Smosh alongside its subsidiary, Smosh Games.

Following the closure of Defy, many channels began noting the malpractice that the company utilized.

Shane Dawson, the partner of former Clevver News host, Ryland Adams was an example. However, as of now, he has deleted his lengthy post about the company. Long story short, money that was rightfully Adams was not provided to him and allegedly that stolen money was used to try and keep Defy afloat.

The now-quit co-founder of Smosh, Anthony Padilla, also made a video calling out Defy Media.

That being said, other channels such as Clevver has also extended that they are not going away. This was announced via a tweet by executive producer / host; Joslyn Davis.

We deeply regret the impact that this has had on them today… Unfortunately, market conditions got in the way of us completing our mission.[/perfectpullquote]

Many of the people a part of – or formerly a part of – Smosh have responded with reassuring tweets and videos calling this only a minor bump in the road. On November 6, the co-founder of Smosh, Ian Hecox released a statement on the matter via Twitter. He made light of the situation and aimed to tell people that Smosh is in the process of finding a new place to call home and they aren’t going anywhere.

As of this moment, Smosh is, as Ian put it “homeless”. They have, however, released a new video detailing the situation and the plans for the future. More content for all their channels before the closure has been acquired that just needs to be edited. This means soon new videos will flood fans’ inboxes from all three of their major channels; Smosh, Smosh Games, and Smosh Pit.
