Boba Fett is the long-feared bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe before meeting his demise in Return of the Jedi. He, however, has remained a fan-favorite character, many choosing to ignore his anti-climactic death. This has led to several rumors of a Boba Fett spin-off being in production at LucasFilm. But now, it seems that dream may be dead.
When Solo: A Star Wars Story underperformed at the box office, spin-offs were put on hold for the Star Wars franchise. However, the final nail in the coffin seems to have been placed.
Erick Weber, a member of Critics Choice posted on Twitter that Kathleen Kennedy, the president of LucasFilm, had told him that the Boba Fett film was canned in exchange for The Mandalorians TV show. The show would be airing on Disney’s upcoming streaming service.
With how similar the projects would be, with The Mandalorian following a bounty hunter, it makes sense they’d go with the TV show. Of course, this is still one hundred percent not confirmed. It was never even confirmed that they were working on the Boba Fett movie in the first place. However, chances are, it will be a while before we see Boba Fett on the big screen again
