Nickelodeon and StudioCanal are in the process of creating a Paddington cartoon. The series will see the return of Ben Whislow as the titular bear’s voice. Nickelodeon has the rights to air it worldwide, but local partners will have airing rights in places such as Canada, France, China, and Japan.
The series will be done in 3D and a broad concept has been released.
The new “Paddington” series sees a younger Paddington writing to Aunt Lucy from Windsor Gardens.
It goes on to explain each episode will begin and end with the letters detailing what Paddington had learned that day. The series has some big names tied to it, such as one of their producers; David Heyman. The name may sound familiar if you’re a fan of the Harry Potter film series as he produced all eight of them. It’s also going to bring back the executive producer behind both films.
David Heyman expressed how excited he is to work on this upcoming cartoon.
It is a joy to bring this uniquely life-enhancing bear to a whole new audience of younger children. We are thrilled that the inimitably brilliant Ben Whishaw will continue to voice Paddington.
The lovable, marmalade-loving bear made his debut in A Bear Called Paddington in 1958 written by now-deceased Michael Bond.
Paddington is set to air on Nickelodeon and their local partners sometimes in 2020.
