New Need For Speed Game Revealed, Won’t Be At E3

The beloved racing series Need For Speed is making a comeback following its 25th anniversary. Unfortunately, much to the dismay of many fans, it won’t be revealed at E3.

According to an official posting by Ben Walke, community manager of EA DICE, they won’t be doing anything in June. To quote him directly:

Our goal is to deliver a truly memorable high-speed entry into the 25 years of NFS, rather than a series of promotional events. The game matters most – a sentiment we bet you share with us.

Now, that isn’t something you hear everyday. But given that the series is reaching a pinnacle lifetime anniversary, the newest title in its arsenal is bound to be great. Additionally, fans need not fret about the lack of NFS at E3. Walke ended the post with a reassuring comment:

With that, know that we’re here, we’re building an amazing game that we can’t wait to show off, and the next time we talk, we’ll be packing our bags and heading south for the full unveiling. We’ll see you then.

No names were dropped in the post itself. However, most speculate that the “south” referred to in the post was Gamescom. The convention will be held this August in Cologne, Germany – as per usual. Ghost Games, the Swedish-based game developers behind NFS, is headquartered north.

Following less than favorable reviews for its 2017 predecessor, Need For Speed: Playback, this may be the company’s way of saying they are going back to their roots.
