NetherRealm Studios is not going to reveal any new game during The Game Awards this year. Previous leaks and reports pointed to the possibility, but studio head, Ed Boon, has spoken.
In a tweet Friday, Boon expressed pride in the studio’s stealth reveal of Mortal Kombat 11 during 2018’s The Game Awards. While it was a great moment, he appeared continued on to damper expectations as they have no intention of revealing a game during the ceremony.
4 years ago at the Game Awards we managed to pull off a surprise announcement of MK11, which turned out great.
Perhaps too great, as many assumed we'd repeat that trick for our next game.
Thank you for the anticipation, but we're not ready to announce the next NRS game yet.🙏 pic.twitter.com/QMXsuEPchR
