Netflix, much like any other streaming platform, has a password sharing problem as users continue to circumvent their terms of service, which prohibits users from sharing their password to anyone outside of their household, by simply doing it anyway.

Well, it seems the mega-streamer is raring to curb that with new measures getting a trial run in Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru. This new measure is more of a means to password share without breaking TOS. All the infringing user has to do is pay more.

What Is Netflix Doing?

According to Netflix’s own announcement, users paying for their Standard or Premium subscriptions will get the ability to make subsidiary accounts for up to two people outside of your household. If you’re more of a person who wants to keep to Netflix’s TOS, this is certainly a way to keep your minds at ease if you ever run into a friend begging for your password.

That said, there’s no guarantee that this sub account feature will be anything more than a flash feature Netflix wants to try out. This test also allows users to transfer data to a new account or Extra Member account. Currently, the feature is getting a limited release in the three countries with a low-bar fee of $2.99 in Costa Rica.
