Netflix Looks To Expand Game Efforts

A recent report is the making the rounds across the internet claiming that the mega-corporation that is Netflix is looking into getting into the gaming industry.

The report made by The Information claimed to have sources who are familiar with the situation as they seek an executive to focus on gaming.

Now, Netflix isn’t looking to compete in a company war with the likes of EA or Ubisoft, instead, they’ll supposedly focus on creating an Apple Arcade-like structure to offer up in their subscription service.

In a statement to Polygon, a spokesperson told them the company’s excited to go more interactive.

“Our members value the variety and quality of our content. It’s why we’ve continually expanded our offering — from series to documentaries, film, local language originals and reality TV. Members also enjoy engaging more directly with stories they love — through interactive shows like Bandersnatch and You v. Wild, or games based on Stranger Things, La Casa de Papel and To All the Boys. So we’re excited to do more with interactive entertainment.”

While they aren’t looking to go after the likes of EA or Ubi, it could make for some fine competition with Game Pass, which is kind of like the gaming equivalent to Netflix.
