Netflix has announced that Iron Fist, its series based on the Marvel Comics character, would not be returning for a third season.

The early cancelation of this series won’t be seen as a surprise by many. A big reason being a whitewashing controversy regarding the casting of a white actor in a role several saw as a great opportunity for a non-Caucasian actor. This led to its first season launching with lukewarm reviews. While the second season reportedly improved in several areas, it was obviously too little, too late.

While the series on Netflix has ended, the Immortal Iron Fist will live on.[/perfectpullquote]
For those who will miss the show, don’t lose all hope. Danny Rand (Iron Fist) will appear across the other Marvel shows on Netflix’s platform (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, etc.). Despite no current plans, a second season of the team-up, The Defenders, is “not out of the question”.
But, for now, it’s curtains closed for the story of Netflix’s Iron Fist. Maybe next time, guys?
