Mortal Kombat 1 Reintroduces Fatalities But With Animals

In September, the “cleverly” named Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns story expansion is heading our way, but outside of the paid DLC, it seems NetherRealm Studios has something for us broke players to sink our (carniverous) teeth into.

During their trip to San Diego Comic-Con, NetherRealm showed off not just the paid content, but also the newly reintroduced Animality feature. This feature has been long missing since its sole use in 1995’s Mortal Kombat 3. As you can probably expect, the crux of the feature is the character turning into an animal and brutally finishing off your opponent, be it stinging with an oversized scorpion tail, chowing down on their head as a mantis, mauling them to to death as a bear, and more.

Animalities will be introduced as a free update for players duking it out in the bloody arenas on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch when Khaos Reigns drops on September 24.
