Earlier today, Netflix and Hasbro had confirmed the Russos’ involvement. They are to be the executive producers of the first animated adaptation of the long-running card game.
Here’s what Netflix had to say about their involvement:
The Russos will oversee the creation of an all-new storyline and expand on the stories of the Planeswalkers, which are Magic’s unique magic-wielding heroes and villains as they contend with stakes larger than any one world can hold.

While nothing has been confirmed regarding the series’ animating style, it’s bound to be great. Netflix has employed the animation talents of Bardel Studios and Octopie Network. You may have seen their work on Rick & Morty, Teen Titans Go!, and various Nickelodeon and Disney shows.
The Russos themselves seem to be quite excited about the show, expressing their excitement in an interview earlier today:
We have been huge fans and players of Magic: The Gathering for as long as it has been around, so being able to help bring these stories to life through animation is a true passion project for us.
So far, no teasers or release dates have been announced. Keep on the lookout – Netflix is set to have a booth at E3 and are bound to release more details then.
