It appears the female-led Pirates of the Caribbean isn’t completely dead or at the least has the chance of being built from the ground up. The movie was revealed in 2020, but was not moving forward by Disney.

The news comes a month after lead actress, Margot Robbie, told Vanity Fair that the female-led entry to the pirating adventure was dead in the water at Disney. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, however, doesn’t believe the film is actually gone for good, per Collider. It just so happens there are two projects part of the franchise and the one not starring Robbie is going first.

“I think that that script will come forward at a certain point. We developed two different stories for Pirates and the other one’s going forward first, so that’s what we’re working on, to try to get that one made.”

Very little is known about Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will look like, but it is believed that the writer for the first four films, Ted Elliott, will be returning to the Seven Seas alongside the introduction of Chernobyl‘s Craig Mazin. As for the story, though, we’ll have to wait and see.
