Cuphead Creator Wants Cuphead And Mugman In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The pulse-pounding 2D platformer, Cuphead, is blasting it’s way to the Nintendo Switch on April 18. This was very surprising for Nintendo fans because Cuphead was believed to be a Microsoft and PC exclusive. But, soon they can grab a friend and break their Switch controls out of frustration.

While Cuphead is jumping over to the Switch, it might not stop there. Gameinformer was able to interview the creator, Jared Moldenhauer. Apparently, Jared would love too see Cupman and Mugman as playable characters in Super Smash Bros: Ultimate.

[Cuphead and Mugman] belong in there. So basically if fans want it, I couldn’t see how Nintendo wouldn’t want the fans to get what they wanted. I think they would because they support their fans a lot . . . So if Nintendo was keeping their fans happy, then I’d be more than pleased to make that the easiest transition. Just a piece of paper, we don’t need anything. You can have those characters make an appearance.[/perfectpullquote]

With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters DLC on its way, it does make you wonder who will make the cut. Nintendo and Microsoft have a solid relationship, so is it possible for a crossover? Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is crossing over with Persona 5 and that’s a PlayStation title. It wouldn’t cross my mind if Microsoft allowed of their characters to jump over. I believe with the inclusion of The Joker (Persona 5), it opened the door for endless requested crossovers.

Jared Moldenhauer and fans are very enthusiastic of the idea. Will Nintendo listen? Possibly. Nintendo has kept an open ear to the fans. If fans make their voices loud enough, then Cupman and Mugman may be added.

Cuphead is launching to the Switch April 18.
