Charlie Day, the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star, has displayed interest in starring in a Luigi’s Mansion movie. The actor won’t for long be outside of Nintendo’s bubble with him in the secondary leading role of Luigi in the upcoming Super Mario movie slated to hit theaters later this year.
Day expressed his interest during a ComicBook interview recently. He placed the blame partly on his son, who was playing Luigi’s Mansion on his Switch.
“Yeah, my son was just playing Luigi’s Mansion the other day on his Switch. Look, I’m thrilled to get the opportunity, I grew up playing Super Mario Brothers as did everyone I know so, we’ll see! It’s like anything else in life, I’ll go if I’m invited!”
While we’ll have to wait and see how well the Mario movie does, it wouldn’t be too shocking if Nintendo shifts gears a bit and lets Illumination Entertainment make a film based on the line of spin-off games.
