Capcom is Making a Live-Action Mega Man Film

Capcom announced on Thursday that a Mega Man film is being produced by Chernin Entertainment and will be distributed by 20th Century Fox.

Catfish (2010) directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman will be directing the film. Masi Oka, the producer of Death Note (2017), will be acting as the producer.

There are very little details about the film at this stage, but it will allegedly appeal to a “diverse audience”. This audience includes gamers and action movie fans. The film will maintain the Mega Man aesthetic but, also include the production that Hollywood movies tend to have.

This announcement follows the recent revitalization of the Mega Man brand. This revitalization includes a new game, collections of older entries, and a Cartoon Network animated series.

The film’s release date has not been announced.
