Bandai Namco recently revealed the newest installment in the One Piece: Pirate Warriors franchise at its Anime Expo panel on Friday. The title, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, will be available for the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam (along with the other titles in the series). A mashup of Dynasty Warriors and One Piece, the games met fairly great success in Japan.
There’s truly no beating Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece. Starting off as a regular Shōnen Jump manga in 1997, it quickly became one of the most famous anime ever.
Its predecessor, Pirate Warriors 3, came out in 2015 to favorable reviews, and quite a lot has happened since then. The newest game includes stories, characters, and environments from the latest arcs of the legendary anime. This includes the “Whole Cake Island” arc.
Fans can expect to see more of the hack-and-slash, ‘beating-several-bad-guys-up-at-once’ action that has characterized the series until now. Dynasty Warrior developers, Omega Force, have been notorious for being quite repetitive with their games. Hopefully, they’ll be bringing more to the table this time around.
While waiting for more news to come out, check out the game’s trailer:
On top of this news, Bandai Namco has also announced its release of Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 in America. While One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 doesn’t have an official release date, Battle Operation 2 drops later this year as a free-to-play digital download on PS4.
As of now, no other details have surfaced in the public. Stay tuned to PixelBay for more updates on the One Piece: Pirate Warriors franchise.
