Alpha Protocol is delisted on Steam. In recent events, its music license for at least one song expired. Found during the final boss, Turn Up The Radio by Autograph can be heard. This was a third-party song, so they had to license the song, but those are never forever. They are always good for a few years then they have to renew it.

It’s hard to believe SEGA would see the value of renewing the license for the nine-year-old game instead of just remastering or patching it.

According to the Steam page, the game was pulled at the request of the publisher, SEGA.

The music license expiring won’t affect those who have already purchased the game. Anyone who has downloaded it will still be able to launch it and anyone who bought it can still download it.

In a short statement to Quicksaved, the game’s developer, Obsidian Entertainment, would be interested in bringing the game back to Steam.

We’d like to look into seeing if there’s anything we can do to help get it back to distribution platforms, but that will be something that could take time.

The future of Alpha Protocol is wary, but we can hope that this favorably recieved game will come back to distribution after changing the copyrighted music.
