505 Games has recently confirmed that they will be publishing Death Stranding on PC. Much anticipation has been built around Kojima Productions’ debut game. Directed by Hideo Kojima, Death Stranding is the first game he and his studio have worked on since breaking off from Konami in 2015.
The game was officially announced during Sony’s E3 2016 presentation. Though initially believed to be PS4-exclusive, the news opens opportunities for the game’s release on other platforms as well.
The game features deliveryman Sam Bridges, the unlikely hero destined to traverse rage landscapes and extraterrestrial threats to save mankind from the brink of extinction.
“We are extremely excited and honored to be working with the supremely talented team at Kojima Productions and to bring Death Stranding to PC gamers around the world,” said 505 Games’ co-founder and CEO Raffi Galante during a press release. “Death Stranding will take gamers through a completely original experience that will delight PC gamers everywhere.”

In light of the recent news, Death Stranding‘s PC release has remained mysterious. For one, what launcher is it set to use? Will it be available on Steam (like Indivisible and Bloodstained) or will it be exclusive to Epic Games Store (like Control)? Considering that 505 Games have experience releasing games both ways, the answer remains uncertain.
Moreover, Sony appears to be an all-hands-off-deck on this version release. This is to be expected: Death Stranding is not a first-party game, so it is not exclusive to Sony’s platforms. Who knows – maybe we’ll be seeing Death Stranding on the Switch soon.
As confirmed by Hideo Kojima on Twitter, Death Stranding is set to release for the PlayStation 4 this November 8. The PC release is slated for Summer 2020, but no particular date has been established.
